THE O.C. is about relationships between fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives and a group of friends in Newport Beach. Everything in the OC appears to be perfect but beneath the surface its not. The main characters in the OC are Ryan, Marissa, Summer, Seth, Sandy, Kirsten, and Julie.
Ryan Atwood (Benjamin McKenzie), a troubled
teen from Chino, moves to the OC when Sandy Cohen (Peter Gallagher), a public defender,
invites him to stay in his guesthouse. Ryan soon becomes a part of their family
and makes great friendships.
Sandy's wife, Kirsten (Kelly Rowan), a wealthy mother and businesswoman, isn't happy that Ryan has moved in. And she's worried about how the change will affect her and Sandy's teenage son, Seth (Adam Brody), but Ryan and Seth become best friends very quickly.
Meanwhile, Marrisa Cooper (Mischa Barton), the girl next door, seems to glide through life effortlessly, that is, until the indiscretions of her wealthy father, Jimmy (Tate Donovan) threaten to break her world apart. Julie Cooper, Marissas mom and Jimmys wife. When Julie finds herself between love and money, we'll be surprised at the choices she makes and the people she befriends.
Summer Roberts (Rachel Bilson), Marissas's
best friend and the Newport Beach party girl. Summer in the object of Seths
affection but she doesn't know he
exsists for awhile. They eventually start dating.
